The report contains the findings and results of a study on the research needs211u001einto the relationship between transportation investment and economic development. 211u001eThe study findings are based on a review of current literature and research on 211u001ethe subject and on the results of a 2-day expert panel workshop that included a 211u001ecross section of stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and 211u001eother transportation interest groups. The participants identified and discussed 211u001einformation requirements, the need for improved analytic tools, and decision-211u001emaking support mechanisms that can improve the accuracy and understanding of the 211u001einterrelationships between economic development and transportation investments. 211u001eThe report should be of use to transportation professionals in state DOTs, MPOs, 211u001efederal agencies, and academia interested in the status of research into the 211u001eeconomic effects of transportation development decisions.
