The numerical near-wall behavior of the specific dissipation rate omega of the211u001eturbulent kinetic energy, i.e., the length-scale determining value of k-omega-211u001etype turbulence models, has been studied. A review of the existing solid-wall 211u001eboundary-condition methods for omega has been made. Two of the existing wall-211u001eomega methods: Wilcox's rough-wall method and Menter's method have been closely 211u001estudied by both numerical and theoretical means. Both existing methods are found 211u001eto give impractically grid-sensitive results. The origin of this phenomenon is 211u001estudied and both methods are modified to have better numerical behavior and thus 211u001egive results far less grid-dependent than the original methods.
