Addendum to Draft Drinking Water Criteria Document for 'Cryptosporidium'

This document, prepared in support of the Interim Enhanced Surface Water211u001eTreatment Rule, updates EPA's 'Cryptosporidium Criteria Document' (1994), by 211u001ereviewing all published data on Cryptosporidium isssued between 1994 and 1997. 211u001eThis update provides information on general characteristics of Cryptosporidium, 211u001eoccurrence in human and animal populations, health effects associated with 211u001eCryptosporidium infection, analytical methods to enumerate the organism in water 211u001eand general effectiveness of water treatment practices in removing 211u001eCryptosporidium. EPA concludes on the basis of the 1994 document and this update 211u001ethat Cryptosporidium may pose a risk to human health.
