This is the fifth annual edition of a series of state-by-state listings that rank211u001ecommercial banks' small business activities for every state and the District of 211u001eColumbia as of June 30, 1998. It looks at such variables as: the number and 211u001edollar value of small business loans outstanding, the dollar value of small 211u001ebusiness loans relative to total deposites, and several other lending ratios and 211u001emeasures. The analysis is based upon loan data culled from the quarterly call 211u001ereports filed by financial institutions with federal banking regulators under the 211u001eterms of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act of 1991.
