This user report presents results of the project 'A Method for Detection of Laser211u001eJamming.' Image sensors, sensitive to visual or IR radiation, are used in many 211u001emilitary applications. However, a sensor of this type can be jammed by laser 211u001eradiation. The laser jammrs often emit the radiation in short periodic pulses. 211u001eThe laser does not need to damage the sensor. In many situations it is sufficient 211u001eto distort the image information periodically. These distorted images may cause a 211u001ehuman observer fatigue or an electronic tracker/seeker to fail. In this report a 211u001etechnique is presented where a smart image sensor is programmed to act as a video 211u001ecamera and at the same time as an exposure control device. An image sensor 211u001esystem, able to withstand laser jamming, can be built up using only a few 211u001ecomponents. Three special features are used in the implementation of the method. 211u001eThey are 'Local and Global Adaption'. 'Random Access' and 'Variable Frame Rate'. 211u001eThe technique may also be useful in other applications, for example, in a very 211u001efast exposure control device.
