Safety of Distributed Machine Control Systems, Validation Methods

Distributed control systems are being used more and more in machines. With211u001edistributed technology new types of errors are introduced. A pre-study has 211u001eearlier resulted in identification of seven different types of errors which are 211u001econsidered to be unique for a distributed system. This report describes methods 211u001efor validating the safety of a distributed control system. The aim with this 211u001evalidation method is to cover all the error types identified in the earlier pre-211u001estudy. The methods are developed to suit several different communication 211u001eprotocols, and not only CAN, even if the CAN protocol has been studied in 211u001eparallel with this work.
