Description and Testing of the AnalTech Model 9801P Monitor for Formaldehyde in211 Air

This report incorporates information on the design, operation, and testing of a211u001ecommercial prototype formaldehyde monitor for ambient and indoor air. The 211u001einstrument incorporates an innovative light collection system and other features 211u001ethat allow a reduction in instrument size compared to previous instruments of 211u001ethis type and that enable cost-effective commercial production. The report 211u001eincludes an Appendix that provides a definitive description of the instrument 211u001e(called the Methanalyzer), information on its operation, explanations of its 211u001eoperation in many cases, and also representative data taken with the instrument. 211u001eThe main text describes the results of independent testing of the instrument in 211u001ethe EPA laboratories. The results of testing show that the instrument offers a 211u001eviable alternative for network monitoring of formaldehyde at ambient levels in 211u001ethe sub-ppbv to ppbv range.
