Field Report for Magnetic Field-Gradient Survey of Prehistoric Sites on the Utah211 Test and Training Ranges, Hill Air Force Base, Utah

Magnetic field-gradient surveys were conducted at three sites (42TO1009, 42BO681,211u001eand 42BO683) on the U.S. Air Force's Utah Test and Training Ranges. In addition, 211u001ea conductivity survey was also conducted at 42BO683. The magnetic field-gradient 211u001esurvey was performed in order to detect prehistoric hearth features at the sites. 211u001eTen potential areas were identified at 42TO1009, one area at Site 42BO681, and 211u001eone area at Site 42BO683. These locations represent 99% confidence level as being 211u001esomething other than survey noise. Archeological excavations are needed to 211u001eidentify the true nature of these magnetic anomalies. The conductivity survey at 211u001eSite 42BO683 indicated an extremely low conductive soil or sediment in the cave.
