Methods for Data Assimilation in Oceanography.

摘要

An overview of methods for oceanographic data assimilation is given. These include optimal interpolation and statistical interpolation, the method traditionally used in meteorology, which is also used operationally for ocean forecasting in several oceanographic centers. More advanced and expensive methods that are likely to be used in the future, such as variants of the Kalman filter and the adjoint method, are also described.
