Childhood Agricultural Injury Prevention Strategy Workshop: A Private Sector211 Perspective. Final Report: A Summary of Strategies and Successes

The book was an outcome of the 1996 National Action Plan developed by the211u001eNational Committee for Childhood Agricultural Injury Prevention. It was designed 211u001eto incorporate private sector involvement in childhood agricultural injury 211u001eprevention strategies and to document prior and ongoing private sector childhood 211u001eagricultural injury prevention efforts. Workshop participants identified 211u001ecorporate image, name recognition, media attention, and increased leverage in 211u001efuture litigation as important justifications for involvement in injury 211u001eprevention programs. Reasons for supporting specific activities included 211u001econsistence with corporate mission, enhanced public relations, and the potential 211u001efor successful outcomes. Budget restraints and a perceived lack of benefits to 211u001ethe organization were identified as primary reasons why requests for support were 211u001erejected. Internal barriers for organization support of injury prevention 211u001eprograms were budget limitations, the potential for creating a liability risk, 211u001eand the lack of support from management.
