In this report the authors analyze the Topic 5 report's recommendations for211u001ereducing nitrogen losses to the Gulf of Mexico (PB2000-104024). The authors 211u001eindicate the relative costs and cost-effectiveness of different control measures, 211u001eand potential benefits within the Mississippi River Basin. For major nonpoint 211u001esources, such as agriculture, the authors examine both national and basin costs 211u001eand benefits.
