This report documents the progress of a project to design, fabricate, and installa fiber-reinforced polymer honeycomb sandwich panel system for use as a superstructure on new or existing vehicular bridge structures; the basic premise being to develop a vehicular bridge decking system, using technologically advanced materials, that was long lasting, economical in both initial cost and long-term use, and required minimal alternations in current installation techniques by outside construction contractors. The general procedure was to determine basic engineering properties of the proposed materials, provide an optimized design through computer analysis of the deck and structure, then manufacture and install the final product. The resulting design has successfully addressed the premise. Monitoring of the structures to determine the long-term viability of the design continues.
