摘要

Concrete deck placement imposes eccentric loading on exterior steel bridge girders. Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) bridge engineers, when reviewing the adequacy of construction support schemes, must take this torsional loading into account. It is useful to bridge engineers to have a computer design tool that evaluates stresses and deflections of the girder flanges, forces in the brackets, diaphragms and cross-frames, and the effect of tie-rods and timber blocks provided as temporary supports. This project, KU-00-3, builds on a previous Kansas Transportation Research and New-Developments Program (K-TRAN) Report, KU-96-3, which developed a design aid called Torsional Analysis for Exterior Girders Version 1.0 (TAEG 1.0). KU-00-3 developed TAEG Version 2.0. It is a computer program that predicts the torsional response of fascia girders to concrete placement loads. It also addresses KDOT's needs to quickly and accurately evaluate proposed construction schemes with respect to the torsion of exterior girders during concrete deck placement. TAEG only calculates girder response due to torsion.
