摘要

Acorn plots were established on all 9 study sites in the Missouri Ozarks in 1993. Acorn plots were refurbished on all 9 study sites after silvicultural treatments (even- and uneven-aged forest management) were applied in 1996. Acorns were collected during the fall and winter of 1993-1994, 1994-1995, 1995-1996, 1997-1998, 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002 and again in the fall and winter of 2002-2003. Differences between pre-cut and post-cut (pre 1996 and post 1997) acorn production in areas with different ecological land type (ELT's) classifications were detected. However, the observed difference in acorn production between ELT's was not a function of the treatments applied to the sites. Future work should focus on determining if various silvicultural practices influence hard mast species composition which in turn may impact the frequency of complete hard mast production failures.
