This plant was a high production plant for the normal commercial products. They made no alloy steel of any kind. It is probable that the data obtained presents a pattern for approximately 3/4 of the whole German steel industry. Statistics for the entire industry, generally substantiating, this fact, were obtained which will be discussed later in the report.nThe most damaging effect on steel production in this plant was the curtailment of high grade ore imports and the resulting sub¬stitution of extremely low grade ore from domestic sources and occupied countries. This substitution caused the shutting down of two of the nine blast furnaces because their internal transportation system could not stand the added burden of increased tonnages of ore, coke and slag per ton of pig iron produced.nThe major change contemplated for future production is the plan to install extremely large (60/80 T) converters for bessemer steel.nAnother item of importance is the plan for oxygen enrich¬ment of blast air in both the blast furnaces and converters.
