Preparation of Diborane by Reaction of Lithium Hudride and Boron Halides:Use of Tetrahydrofuran as a Solvent

Tetrahydrofurane has been found to be an efficient solvent for diborane, and its use as a solvent in the lithium hydride-boron halide reaction results in good yields of diborane in the absence of catalyst or special operating temperatures.
