This is the fourth monograph in a series sponsored by the VA and prepared by the Follow-up agency of the National Research Council. This study deals with peripheral nerve regeneration after battle-incurred injury. Major topic areas covered are: (1) the injury and its management; (2) recovery of motor function; (3) electrical evidence of regeneration; (4) recovery of sensory function; (5) pain and related phenomena; (6) functional recovery and occupational recovery; (7) recovery following injury to the brachial plexus; (8) peripheral nerve suture; (9) neuropathological predictions of recovery; and (10) neurosurgical implications. A bibliography is included.
