摘要

Energy of vibration may be dissipated by microscopic slip on interfaces where machine elements are joined in a press fit. This report developes expressions for the damping and elastic properties of joints under a linearly varying clamping pressure. The predictions of the theory are compared with the results of controlled experiments. Correlation is made between the linear pressure joint and a uniform pressure joint which has been previously investigated.
