The expectation is that meaningful dimensions or factors much fever in number than the state¬ments used will be found which will give a parsimonious description of student judgment with respect to teaching effectiveness. This is simply the general requirement of scientific inquiry that we attempt to comprehend and describe a given domain of activity by the fewest variables possible consistent with the data. The development of the study will show that the methodology of factor analysis is particularly suited to this type of problem.
