EARLY DEVELOPMENT STUDIES ON THE PREPARATION OF MANGANESE BISMUTHIDE BY A LOW TEMPERATURE REACTION

摘要

A study has been made on the feasibility of producing pure manganese bismuthide by the solid state reaction of fine manganese and bismuth powders as proposed by Cornish. This report presents only the results of the early work on this problem. Some experiments with the process, as originally proposed, produced good results, but the difficulty in consistent duplication made further investigation necessary to determine the factors affecting the reproducibility of the results.
