Development of Foamed-in-Place Plastic Energy Absorbing Materials

This program of research dealt with investigations of materials methods, and equipment with would be suitable for the production of foamed-in-place, plastic, energy-dissipating structures in the field for later assembly with aerial drop containers.nA process was developed for the production of highly exothermic “one-shot”, resin systems which could be foamed-in-place under their own heat of reaction to cured rigid foams with equivalent or better energy-dissipating properties than foamed glass at comparable densities.
