Invited Review Paper presented at Paris Conference on Low Energy Nuclear Physics Connection between the Shell Model and the Rotational Model

摘要

Some simple systems of interacting particles exhibiting collective behavior and rotational spectra are mentioned. Two examples are discussed in some detail:1.) Particles in the lp shell interacting via spin-independent central interactions (L-S coupling). 2.) The coupling scheme of Elliott involving transformations pro¬perties of the wavefunctions under U3, the group of unitary transformations in three dimensions.
