The application of the contour method to non-linear materials with a two- straight-line stress-strain relation such as rubber-like, foam plastic is given. The formation of shock wave and its behavior on the X-T diagram is presented. The multiple scabbing phenomenon of materials due to tensile reflection from a free boundary is analyzed and presented graphically. General rules governing the structure of the X-T diagram are delineated.
