Silicone liquids have been used as lubricants in high-temperature applications, but their usefulness has been limited by a tendency to gel above 400°F. When gelation occurs the bearing is deprived of the essential liquid phase, and the rubbery material so formed clogs the system and hampers relubrication. It has been obvious that some method of stabilizing silicone liquids more effective than that attained by conventional inhibitors has been needed to extend the usefulness of these materials as lubricants
