EFFECTIVENESS OF WATER MISTS FOR PROTECTION FROM RADIANT HEAT IGNTION

Wood specimens were exposed to radiant heat in simula¬tion of fire spread between structures. The heat was mod¬ified in some tests by the interposition of a screen of water mist. Measurements were made of the intensity of exposure (radiant heat flux at the wood), the time required for ignition, the ignition temperature of the wood, and the effectiveness of the screening mist.
