Remotely-Actuated Biomedical Switch

The report describes an implantable electronic switch that may be remotely actuated by an rf impulse to operate low-voltage bioinstrumentation attached to or also implanted in the monitored subject. This switching circuitry's unique characteristic lies in its relatively zero drain on its power supply, two 1.35-volt mercury cells. The circuitry sensitivity to rf impulses drops off as the third power of the distance from the actuator, a characteristic that improves its immunity to extraneous impulses (noise). (Author)
