Estimates and forecasts of farm income and expenditures are essential guides in the determination of agricultural policy. Farm income estimates measure the combined effect of changing prices, production, sales, and production costs on U.S. farm operators. All the major sources bearing on the economic situation of farm operators and their families and other farm residents are reflected in the estimates of farm income.
