This pamphlet reports the results of an extensive investigation of tire wear and tire failures on nine major road surfaces. Factual data are presented to show the effect on wear of car speed,application of brakes,type of road surface,type and age of rubber,and related forces. Causes of tire failure and methods for preventing or delaying it are also reported. (Author)
