摘要

The expansive behavior of carbonate rocks from twenty-two lithologies taken from commercial quarries and carefully selected on the basis of potential reactivity was determined. Measurements were made on: (1) three concretes each containing the rocks but with cements having different levels of alkali content; (2) rock prisms stored in 1 N NaOH solution;and (3) mortar bars. Extensive petrographic examinations were made of the rocks and test specimens. Correlations among the several testing methods were studied. The results from the research were utilized as guides for evaluating the production of several quarries producing potentially reactive carbonate aggregates. The results obtained from the studies and experience in Virginia are interpreted and compared with results from similar test by other agencies. (Author)
