摘要

The feasibility of microwave-induced emission spectrometry as an in-house analytical tool for the simultaneous analyses of trace elements in biological and environmental samples of occupational health interest is investigated. It is found that direct microwave excitation of as-is samples yields meaningful data only for mercury and possible cadmium; for less volatile elements the microwave technique can give results at ultra-trace levels, but only on specially prepared samples. With new programming, the Chemscan is successful in looking simultaneously at the wavelengths corresponding to 16 different elements. Data on NIOSH samples of blood, urine, lung, and particulates on a filter is provided, based on these measurements and those done via mass spectroscopy.
