摘要

In an attempt to overcome the constraints of relatively inflexible fluoroscopic tables and imaging systems,the Division of Medical Radiation Exposure contracted to have the Radiology Department of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine design,construct and perform preliminary clinical trials of a prototype orbital multi-directional x-ray fluoroscopic apparatus. It is hoped that the project described in this report will serve as a stimulus to the ongoing commercial development of increasingly flexible motorized positioning systems for fluoroscopy,resulting in increased efficiency,greater utility and reduced exposure.
