There have been many studies and articles regarding basic research. It is through basic research that problems are solved. The manuscript finalized under this contract provides data for the study of the contribution of categorical research to basic science knowledge. This manuscript attempts to determine where in history categorical research has contributed to basic science and provide a balanced picture between categorical and basic research to assist in making decisions for future planning. This manuscript shall serve the entire National Cancer Institute.
