Preparation and Evaluation of Optimized Hemodialysis Membranes.

摘要

A process for continuously glycerinizing and drying cellulose acetate (CA) membranes has been developed and demonstrated. The process produces no change in membrane transport properties and the dry membrane has exhibited good long term storage stability over 197days. Favorable results were obtained in extensive biological toxicity and blood compatibility testing of dry, glycerinized CA-1membrane made from fiber grade CA flake. Efforts to produce a low molecular weight cutoff membrane have been unsuccessful. The properties of the three standard CA membranes,CA-2 (low flux),CA-1 (high flux) and CA-3 (ultrahigh flux),which are now available in dry, glycerinized form for laboratory and clinical evaluation,are summarized.
