摘要

This report presents the findings of a study aimed at documenting operational problems associated with the surface mining of coal dipping 8degrees to 25degrees. Based on an intense literature search and field investigations,new extraction concepts were generated as a means to alleviate these problems. Also contained in the report is a detailed characterization of moderately pitching coal seams found within the United States.
