Analysis of Mercury Data Collected from the North Fork of the Holston River.

Mercury data collected from the North Fork of the Holston River by the State of Virginia,Oak Ridge National Laboratory,and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) were submitted to TVA for comparative analysis. The data included mercury concentrations in fish and sediment samples collected from 1970to 1976. Yearly mean mercury concentrations in fish samples were compared between years using Student's t-test. Correlation coefficients were calculated between mercury concentration and fish weight for three fish species. Mean total and methyl mercury concentrations in fish and mean total mercury in sediment were plotted with distance downstream from an abandoned chloralkali plant.
