This report covers the first six months of a three year contract for the fabri¬cation, characterization and distribution of two Primary Reference Materials;Silica-Free Polydimethylsiloxane (PSX) and FEP Teflon. To date, the major emphasis has been or. PSX. Using GPC, OSC, T6A, IR, yc, Intrinsic Viscosity, Bulk Viscosity, GC, Solvent Extraction/Swelling, Emmission Spectroscopy and Wet Chemical Analysis preliminary work on the following tasks has begun: Procurement and Characterization of Silicone Substrate sheet and tubing, Synthesis and Characterization of silica-free PSX coating fluid. Purification and Characterization of silicone substrates and Fabrication of coated silicone substrates. A sheet coating apparatus has been designed for use within a Class 100 laminar flow/fume hood and a tubing coating apparatus is currently under development.
