Uranium Resources: A Review of Estimation Methodologies

Several methods for estimating recoverable resources are reviewed. These fall into two categories. Explicit models yield the amount and distribution of uranium ore on the basis of a known physical characteristics, such as rock type. Implicit models yield resources on the basis of an historical trend, such as annual production over time. Other methods are used to estimate subeconomic deposits. None of the methods is clearly superior; assumptions and procedures in each of the methods are identified, and recent resource estimates are presented.
