摘要

One hundred forty years of log driving in the Kennebec River left an estimated one to two million cores of spruce and fir pulpwood logs submerged in Wyman Lake. Commercial salvaging of these logs from 1979-81 prompted a study to assess the importance of these logs to fishes, and the effects of log salvaging on fishes. Techniques employed in this study were vertical gill netting, radio tracking, and stomach content analysis. The vertical distribution of the various fish species in the water column and the horizontal distribution of fishes in different parts of the lake indicate some habitat segregation by fish species.
