Research on the Impact of a Computerized Circulation System on the Performance of a Large College Library. Part II: The Conservatory Library

Since 1978, the libraries at Oberlin College have been assessing the impact of an automated circulation system on the quantity and quality of service to their patrons and the attitude of the patrons toward that service. This report describes measurements made at the music library from 1978-1981. The authors show that quality of service increased slightly but quantity of service and attitude of patrons toward that service did not change as a result of the implementation of the automated system. Possible causes for this effect are discussed.
