Characterization of Adrenergic Regulation of Pineal NAT (N-acetyltransferase)

A series of investigations on the pineal to characterize the alpha-adrenergic regulations of N-acetyltransfease (NAT) activity in the rat pineal and to investigate the mechanisms involved in the transduction of electrochemical information into changes in biochemical activity of the pinealocyte were continued. The results strongly support the role of at least one and possibly two alpha-receptors or modulators of NAT induction. However it was not clear whether the presynaptic response is a specific or related to a secondary response to these drugs.
