Exact image theory, recently introduced for problems involving a plane interface between two homogenous media, is extended for problems with microstrip geometry. The basic field problem for the horizontal surface current is solved in terms of an image current function, for which an explicit exact expansion in terms of special functions is developed. Asymptotic tests for the image theory are made and complete coincidence with results calculated with another theory applying Mittag-Leffler expansion, given elsewhere, is observed. In its present form, the theory is applicable to microstrip antenna analysis and design.
