The study presents the results of a competitive assessment of the U.S. digital central office switch market. The United States today is a world leader in digital central office switch technology, production and application. However, market access limitations abroad will constrain U.S. industry growth at a time of rapid technological advancement. U.S. industry success under these conditions will have to rely upon determined pursuit of emerging market opportunities in both the domestic and international markets. This effort includes continued work to end trade distorting practices in other producing countries, achieving a greater awareness of foreign market demands and the pursuit of arrangements such as joint ventures as well as sustained technological leadership.
