Hospital Decision-Making about Offering Health Professions Clinical Education Opportunities and the Effects of Payment Policies on These Decisions: Case Studies

The volume presents case study reports of site visits to nine types of hospitals that provide clinical practice opportunities for health professions students: a state university medical center; a private major teaching affiliate of a medical school; a private university medical center; an urban county hospital; a rural referral center; an urban community hospital; a hospital with a hospital-operated diploma nursing school; a hospital with numerous education programs organized under a vice president for education; and a large voluntary medical center with many education programs. The case studies present detailed information on how the education programs are organized and financed, how hospitals make decisions about the programs, and the criteria they apply.
