Validation Project for the Contract Specialist (GS-1102) Examination: Extent of Relationship Between Training Content and Job Content

For the predictive validation of the Contract Specialist (GS-1102) selection examination, training performance scores for the entry-level GS-5/7 sample were collected as one of the criterion measures. The Contract Specialist test battery was administered to the entry-level contract specialists shortly after they entered the job, and scores from their basic training course were collected as soon as the scores became available (training time varied from attending immediately after entering the job to attending nine months after entering the job). Four examinations were given during training, and the scores from those examinations were correlated with the scores received on the Contract Specialist examination to determine the extent of the relationship between performance on the test and performance in training.
