Blooms of Toxic Algae Worldwide: Their Effects on Fish Farming and Shellfish Resources

This presentation is a summary of the major organisms (curiously, all flagellates) responsible for toxic blooms and red tides in various parts of the world and their effects on fish and shellfish resources, with special reference to mariculture. I will first consider toxic organisms causing fish kills, then those causing contamination of shellfish with toxins.
