Effects of Acidic Episodes in Lyons Creek on Survival of Eggs and Larvae of Blueback Herring and American Shad: 1987 Field and Laboratory Studies. Volume A: Technical Findings. Volume B: Appendices
The report discusses a series of flow-through and in situ toxicity experiments that were designed to corroborate laboratory-derived predictions of blueback herring Alosa aestivalis and American shad A. sapidissima sensitivity to acidic, aluminum-rich pulses in a coastal plain stream. The field site was Lyons Creek, a third-order coastal plain tributary to the Patuxent River, located in southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Field experiments were carried out with eggs and prefeeding (yolk-sac) larvae from late April through mid-June 1987.
