Epidemiological data have demonstrated that individuals with fewer or lowerlevels of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors are less likely to suffer a cardiovascular event. In addition, the greater the level of any single CVD risk factor, the greater the chance of incurring disease. Moreover, a combination of risk factors creates a synergistic effect further increasing risk. Conversely, reducing cardiovascular risk factors prevents death and disability from cardiovascular diseases. The report is designed to guide the clinician in managing patients with multiple cardiovascular risk factors, placing a special emphasis on hypertension and high blood cholesterol.
