Interdisciplinary Faculty Development in Gerontology in HBCUs

摘要

The purpose of the project was to provide faculty development over a 12-month period for 10 faculty persons in historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The faculty participants in the project will implement a new curriculum in gerontology at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Faculty development was provided through a minority/nonminority collaborative arrangement between Texas Southern University and the Texas Consortium of Geriatric Education Centers at Baylor College of Medicine. The objective of faculty development was to increase the faculty participants expertise in aging in order that they would be better prepared to provide gerontology education to students who will pursue careers in aging.
