Access to Help of Functionally-Limited Elders Living in the Community

摘要

The growing size of the very old population has increased the number of frail anddisabled elders needing long-term assistance with daily activities of household tasks and personal care. The majority of these individuals are living in the community and rely mostly on the help from their spouses and children. Hence, this report focuses on aspects of access to help. It consists of three studies that investigate different aspects of access, two focusing on caregivers and one on care recipients. They are: 'Why do some caregivers of disabled and frail elderly quit'; 'Paid work and unpaid help by caregivers of the disabled and frail elders'; and 'Frequency of help received by functionally-limited elders living in the community'.
