摘要

The application of gyroscopes and star trackers to the problem of satellite attitude measurement was studied. The sensor outputs are processed in a small onboard microprocessor. Methods of extracting rate from incremental angle information were described. Also, predicting the drift angle in the quaternions at the end of a large angle slew maneuver due to sensor and processing errors was investigated. The results of the study of drift angle errors has enabled guidelines to be formulated for choosing an algorithm to meet a given mission accuracy. The use of adaptive filtering techniques for processing the gyro and star tracker outputs during a small angle tracking mode was considered. A common algorithm for processing the gyro outputs during both the large angle slew maneuver and the small angle tracking mode, was derived.
